Every New Year, we all always make some resolutions. This year, why not adopt some habits that will help reduce your consumption of animal products? Resolutions that are good for your health, for the environment and for animal welfare? We likey!
1. Take part in the #meatlessmonday initiative
It's simple! Enjoy vegan meals on Mondays, and feel free to follow the hashtag #meatlessmonday for recipes or inspiration.
2. Eat at least one vegan meal a day
Eat one vegan meal a day, and feel free to alternate between meals to sample a lot of different recipes and products.
3. Sign up for (at least) one vegan challenge
Join a vegan challenge movement and sign up for at least one challenge every year. Participants usually receive an email filled with tips and exclusive offers each morning, on top of having access to a support forum.
4. Pick cruelty-free cosmetics
Look for the Leaping Bunny logo to make sure the cosmetics you buy are cruelty-free.
5. Opt for vegan fashion
It's simple: avoid fur, leather, suede and wool!
6. Satisfy that sweet tooth with gelatin-free candy
Pssst ... most Allan candies (sold at Bulk Barn) are vegan.
7. Replace milk with non-dairy alternatives
Soy, almond, cashew, rice, oat milk... the possibilities are almost endless.
8. Try a new vegetarian or vegan restaurant each month
Visit HappyCow.net to find new vegan hot spots to try.
9. Join your local vegetarian association
Recipes, trips, discussions, information - it's a practical and motivating way to learn more about veganism.
10. Avoid palm oil
Say NO to tropical deforestation, extinction of species and loads of saturated fat by picking vegetable oils over palm oil (and trans fats, while you’re at it).
Happy New Year!
