Impaired digestion? Dyspepsia, it’s a common problem.

Many digestive problems are linked to poor lifestyle choices: stress, a poor diet, ingestion of irritable products such as alcohol, coffee or certain spices. Even with a healthy lifestyle, we tend to over-indulge during certain periods: the holidays, vacations, heavy meals with friends or at the restaurant. The resulting inconveniences are generally short-lived. However, chronic digestive problems are frequent and affect up to 40% of the adult population.

What is dyspepsia?

Heartburn, stomach aches, nausea, bloating, excessive burping, acid reflux, hiccups, flatulence and a feeling of abnormal or slow digestion are all symptoms (sometimes embarrassing) of dyspepsia. People affected may present more than one symptom. Although many people suffer from occasional bouts of dyspepsia, others suffer from digestive disturbances so often that it influences their capacity to accomplish simple everyday tasks.

Certain problems such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux) or peptic ulcer disease are known causes of dyspepsia. However, about half of the cases remain medically unexplained. This phenomenon is known as functional dyspepsia. If you eat a balanced diet and are in general good health but you still suffer from digestive issues, you are probably part of the population that suffers from functional dyspepsia. The symptoms can be effectively treated by common methods.

There are many over the counter medications that target digestive problems but many concentrate only on one particular symptom (antacids, antiflatulents…) Often, they contain chemical excipients and may cause side-effects or drug interactions.

Natural and safe solutions

Certain medicinal plants are used by herbalists and are known to sooth symptoms due to poor digestion:

The medicinal benefits of Blessed thistle have been known for ages in Europe and India (Ayurvedic medicine). It is used as a digestif bitter and to calm the stomach.
Ginger, the great star of Asian medicine, has been used for 6000 years. It treats indigestion, digestive spasms and flatulent stomach pain. It also prevents nausea and vomiting, particularly when caused by motion sickness.
Peppermint helps digestion and reduces flatulence, plus it helps to sooth gastro-enteritis.
boldo has been used in South America for thousands of years to treat liver problems and digestive issues. It is one of the most common plants recommended by naturopaths.
gentiane helps digestion and stimulates the secretion of bile.

An all-inclusive solution

Digest is a blend composed of traditional extracts from these highly reputable medicinal plants which are recognized by Health Canada. Made in Canada and reflecting superior fabrication standards including quality control, its unique formula is designed to maximise the synergy of the active ingredients and therefore address a larger range of digestive issues. Alcohol free, Digest is a rapid, simple and 100% natural solution. With a pleasant taste, it is easy to swallow as is or in a cup of hot water like tea. It is also possible to use Digest preventatively by taking a dose 30 to 60 minutes before a meal.

And for the liver?

If your symptoms are more likely caused by a tired or congested liver, we suggest a one month cure of  Milk Thistle extract.  Milk thistle contains silymarin, a hepatoprotective agent. Many clinicians agree, it can regenerate damaged liver cells and protect this organ. Land Art’s Milk Thistle product offers a superior concentration and increased effectiveness.
