As you know, what comes around goes around, and seasons are no exceptions. And with each change of season, we need to make a few changes too: in our clothing, diet, sleep, and luminosity. Our body has to adjust, and despite its efforts to stay strong, our immune system sometimes takes a blow!
Soooooo… Hello little runny noses!
That is why I’m sharing with you today my no-fail flu buster smoothie recipe, chock full of vitamins, a real "magic potion" that contains the best possible allies to help your body and mind better fight the bad ol' viruses!
First, there are the small bright orange berries of the sea buckthorn, which are rich in vitamin C (more than 30x the value of an orange!), vitamin E and beta-carotene. They have adaptogenic properties (which increase the body's resistance to various stress factors), and act as a general tonic for the body. They contain more than 18 amino acids (the building blocks of proteins), phytosterols (vegetal fats), and trace elements (minerals).
Second, there’s pollen, whose richness in amino acids and vitamins make it an energetic and nutritive food element for the general well-being and the immune system. I always add some to my smoothies for its many benefits on my body and its immune-stimulating virtues.
Then, hemp seeds, which are very nutritious and an excellent source of complete vegetable protein as well as soluble and insoluble fibers, which help digestion.
The last “magical” ingredient is Land Art Canada's Peach and Apple Multivit formula. It helps prevent deficiencies that decrease your vitality and weaken your immune system. It has a natural apple and peach flavour that goes very well with smoothies, and adds vitamins that are three times more efficient than capsules. This ultra-powerful formula is great for the whole family!
I don’t know about you guys, but personally with three kids, my mornings are hectic, so a smoothie on the run saves me time while making sure I give my kiddos and myself all we need to face the day: cold, stress, viruses and cravings!
IT’S SIMPLY WONDERFUL!
Here’s what you need to make my flu buster smoothie (for 2, but you can double or triple as needed!)
• 1 cup frozen chunks of pineapple or mango
• 2 tablespoons of sea buckthorn berries
• 1 medium carrot cut into slices
• 1 kiwi
• 1 tablespoon of hulled hemp seeds
• 1 tablespoon of pollen
• 2 tablespoons of Land Art Apple and Peach Multivit
• 250 ml or more of vegetable milk of your choice
• a bit of honey (for those with a sweet tooth)
Mix all the ingredients in your blender and VOILÀ!
