We have turned this subject over and over, we have had our share of frustrations and restrictions; let’s face it, making lunches in 2021 is not as easy as 1-2-3! There are obviously allergens, with which it’s not always easy to juggle, especially when you like to prepare home-made snacks, muffins and chewy bars. There is also the ecological side we have to keep in mind to reduce our consumption of plastic, bags and disposable containers. And last but not least, we have to make sure the lunches we make have all the nutritional elements our kids need. Balancing and varying the menu of our little darlings is quite important, but oh how much puzzling at times! ...
That being said, let’s talk solutions!
Regarding allergies, there is a large variety of products available on the market. Many companies offer "healthy" chewy bars with organic and health conscious ingredients, without additives or excess sugar. There is always the option of home-made cookies or nut-free muffins that are generally tolerated in schools (I'd be happy to share my best school snack recipes in a future article!). As for the green side of 2021 lunches, it's still easy to do our part. There are cute reusable bags, Mason style glass jars, washable juice boxes, reusable fruit sauce or yogurt pouches, and more! Of course, they come at a price: for a decent starting kit, you have to consider investing between 35$-60$, but they will follow your child for many years, as long as they use them carefully, don’t lose them and most importantly, don’t throw them away! It's easy to help reduce our ecological footprint and set an example for our offspring! Small simple gestures that will ultimately make all the difference!
Lastly, having a varied and complete diet is essential for the development to our little treasures, we know that. But making sure they have it is another ball game! Whether because we’re running out of ideas, time, knowledge or simply because "the child" is picky! Of course, nothing can replace a healthy and complete diet, but the addition of vitamins and minerals remains a really interesting and effective option to consider when ensuring that our little ones have all they need.
Which brings me introduce to you the Land Art's Multivit, which is a liquid multivitamin supplement. It contains beta-carotene, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, D3, E and folic acid. You just have to add it to their morning routine to prevent deficiencies, strengthen their immune system, and help support their growth and general health.
Well well! That wasn’t so hard! Wasn’t it?! Nothing complicated really, only a happy mix of organization, ideas to try out, and good will!
Wishing you a great back-to-school and an excellent year!
Bon appetit! Stéfanie Crevier
