Land Art Licenses and Certifications

Land Art holds an operating license from Health Canada.

Certifications related to eco-friendly and organic practices

A Natural Product Number (NPN) is an approval issued by Health Canada, which can be found on the product label.

Health Canada: A Key Regulatory Framework

Health Canada has established strict regulations to govern the natural health products industry. Whether regarding manufacturing, labeling, claims, or the management of adverse reactions and contraindications, these requirements are designed to protect the public while regulating the companies that manufacture and market these products.

Before being marketed, all natural health products must be submitted to Health Canada to obtain a product license (Natural Product Number). The granting of this license is based on an assessment of safety, quality, and the evidence supporting the product’s claims.

The requirements include, in particular, the identification of raw materials, analyses conducted using recognized methods (such as USP or equivalent), and manufacturing in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

It is important to distinguish between natural health products bearing an NPN and homeopathic products, which are identified by a DIN-HM and evaluated under a separate framework.

Land Art strictly complies with all Health Canada requirements and manufactures only natural health products that have been assigned an NPN. Whenever possible, we implement additional measures to ensure a high level of quality, particularly with regard to raw material identification, microbiological testing, the use of independent laboratories, stability studies, and specifications for active ingredients.

For over 30 years, we have maintained high standards to ensure the quality of our products, from ingredient selection through to the finished product.

Always look for a Natural Product Number (NPN) on the front of the product label. This database allows you to search for a registered product by selecting “Land Art” as the brand name or “Aromatik” as the licensee. You can also enter the NPN found on the label or on the product page on our website. : Search for certified natural health products.

Quality assurance: at the heart of the Land Art approach

Beyond certifications and regulatory compliance, quality assurance shapes the way we work.

It ensures product consistency and adherence to internal standards across several areas:

  • Supplier Qualification
  • Raw Material Qualification
  • Packaging Qualification
  • Quality Control During Manufacturing
  • Independent Testing
  • Stability Protocol for Finished Products
  • Guarantee of Product Efficacy
  • Trained, Competent Employees Who Undergo Continuous Training
  • Facility Inspections

1. Supplier Qualification

Led by our quality assurance team, the selection and qualification of our suppliers are conducted according to strict criteria. Suppliers must demonstrate compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

The ingredients used comply with recognized quality standards (such as USP or equivalent standards), where applicable.

Every batch of raw material undergoes rigorous testing, including verification of its identity and compliance with established specifications. Using a risk-based approach, analyses are conducted, including by qualified external laboratories.

Supplier declarations are also required to document, among other things, the origin of raw materials, manufacturing processes, and the potential presence of allergens, gluten, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This information is verified in accordance with our internal procedures.

2. Raw Material Qualification

Each batch of raw material undergoes rigorous testing to verify its identity, quality, and compliance with established specifications, including, where applicable, parameters such as functionality, solubility, purity, and active ingredient content.

In accordance with a risk-based approach, analyses are conducted—including by qualified external laboratories—to supplement internal controls.

Samples from each batch are retained in accordance with our retention procedures to allow for any future evaluation or investigation.

In addition, the use of each batch is fully traceable, making it possible to link raw materials to the corresponding batches of finished products, including the quantities used, manufacturing dates, and related information.

3. Packaging specifications

Whether they are labels, caps, bottles, or cardboard boxes, packaging components undergo rigorous inspections to ensure they meet established quality specifications before being released for use by the production department.

These checks include, in particular, visual inspection, verification of critical characteristics, and, where applicable, additional assessments based on a risk-based approach.

In addition, the use of packaging components is fully traceable, making it possible to link each batch of packaging to the corresponding batches of finished products, including the quantities used, dates, and related information.

4. Quality control of manufacturing stages

Our quality assurance and quality control team continuously monitors facilities, equipment, and operations in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.

Critical stages of production are subject to controls, inspections, and appropriate supervision to ensure compliance with established procedures.

A comprehensive traceability system is in place, covering, in particular, the equipment used, the personnel involved at each stage, raw materials and packaging components, as well as manufacturing and packaging operations, all of which are documented in accordance with applicable requirements.

In addition, our QA/QC team regularly conducts internal audits to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. External audits are also conducted by independent parties or certification bodies, as needed.

5. Independent analyses

To avoid any risk of a conflict of interest and ensure that analyses are conducted in accordance with recognized standards, we work with independent external laboratories accredited under ISO/IEC 17025.

These laboratories are selected based on their technical expertise, their quality management systems, and their recognition by accredited bodies, and their operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

6. Stability Protocol for Finished Products

To ensure the quality of Land Art products throughout their shelf life, our quality assurance team conducts stability studies in accordance with applicable requirements.

These studies verify that the product’s characteristics (including active ingredient content, physicochemical parameters, and microbiological parameters) are maintained through the expiration date and, in some cases, beyond.

Retention samples from each batch are stored under appropriate conditions for the entire shelf life of the product and for at least one year after the expiration date, in accordance with our internal procedures.

7. Guarantee of our products’ effectiveness

We validate our health claims by referring to Health Canada’s monographs, which are based on scientific data and recognized clinical studies.
The effectiveness of our products is confirmed by rigorous testing—both in the laboratory and under real-world conditions—as well as by monitoring specific performance metrics. This approach, supported by ongoing quality controls, enables us to guarantee reliable and consistent results.

8. Trained, skilled employees who are committed to ongoing professional development

The expertise and dedication of our employees directly contribute to the quality of our Land Art products. A qualified and trained team plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.

That is why we have implemented rigorous selection processes and ensure that our staff receives initial and ongoing training tailored to their roles, particularly in quality assurance and Good Manufacturing Practices.

These training programs help keep our employees’ knowledge and skills up to date and foster a culture of quality within the organization.

9. Inspection of facilities

Our facility is equipped with access control systems that restrict and log access to various production areas.

These measures are designed to ensure operational safety, product integrity, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices by ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to controlled areas.
